This time of the year is perfect for this part of the
world with its shimmering colours of the autumn, lovely quite country roads,
buzzing cities like Boston, tasty lobster and amazing coastlines: New England
There is lots to see in all five states (Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut) and depending on your time and interests lots to do for everybody. This is only one of the reasons why I love travelling through America so much, the variety of activities and places to visit are endless.
Don and myself picked a route starting in New
York through Connecticut, Massachusetts up to Vermont, though New Hampshire and
back at the coastline to New York. We loved the “fall foliage” in Vermont
because nowhere else in the world the fall colours are as stunning as in New
England in September and October.
Don’t miss staying in stylish Manchester, a small
little town in the heart of Vermont. Take a look at the stunning New England architecture,
have afternoon tea in one of the lovely restaurants or coffee shops and stay in
a cosy motel like we did... and.. have breakfast in "Up for Breakfast" where you will find the healthiest and most delicious buckwheat pancakes.
Before recommending Boston ... for those of you who
love ice cream, visit the
Ben & Jerry’s factory in Vermont, queue for some
unusual ice cream and find out how two high-school guys invented America’s
fanciest ice cream :)

I loved the scenic drive through the Burlington area in Vermont.

Not to miss: Boston
Take a stroll around the city, enjoy the atmosphere and do a harbour cruise to see the stunning city form another side.
My favourite part: South/Quincy Market and all the lovely food stalls and street markets.
For the first time I tried some lobster and I loved it. If you don’t know how to eat it, the guys in summershack are happy to help :)
Further down the coast - in Plymouth - we were
lucky to see the spectacular "Cranberry Bogs", the beds of the tasty
cranberry. Every year in September/October the cranberry growers flood the bogs
to harvest the berries. Harvested fruit float in the water and can be corralled
into a corner. Form here the berries can be pumped from the bed. I loved these
beautiful colours and the stunning view.
We spent the last days of our trip in Cape Cod enjoying the sea, a whale watching tour, arty shops and lots of tasty lobster.
No more words needed now...
I will definitely be back some day!
